What does MultiCamCutter do?
It turns the raw footage of a multi-camera podcast or interview into a finished, editable multicam timeline — automatically. Point it at a folder of camera clips and mic tracks and it syncs everything, cuts to whoever's speaking, adds reaction shots, trims pauses and loosens long takes with cutaways.
Which editor do I use the result in?
MultiCamCutter exports a non-destructive AAF timeline — an edit list, not a rendered video. You open it in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Avid or any AAF-capable editor and do the creative fine-tuning there.
Is there a free version?
Yes. The Free tier has the full feature set, but the longest source file is capped at 30 minutes. Without a license the app runs in the Free tier right away — no credit card required. For longer recordings, subscribe to Pro.
What do I need to record for it to work?
A separate microphone track per person (lavalier or individual mics) — that's how the app knows who's speaking — plus your camera angles.
Does my footage get uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs 100% locally on your Mac — no cloud, no upload, no waiting. Your material never leaves the machine, which keeps even sensitive conversations private.
Do I need to be a video editor to use it?
No. One click gives you a strong first cut. If you want control, the expert presets let you tune cut lengths, pause trimming and cutaway behavior — simple by default, deep when you need it.
How does the license and billing work?
Pro is a subscription (monthly or yearly) via LemonSqueezy. You can cancel the renewal anytime and keep access until the end of the paid period — for the yearly plan that means the full year you already paid for. After purchase you get a license key by email; enter it in the app to unlock unlimited length. A license runs on one Mac and can be moved when you switch machines. What happens when my subscription ends — and does the app update itself?
When a subscription ends, the app falls back to the Free tier (30-minute limit) — you keep working, nothing is deleted. And on updates: MultiCamCutter checks for new versions automatically and lets you know as soon as one is ready — you then install it with a single click.
